Don’t Care Too Much About Money (Part 1)

I got you with the title didn’t I? Lol!

I know you have probably come to this article fully loaded –and guns blazing trying to read the ‘nonsense’ I have written so that you put me in my place somewhere in the very low parts of your mind (because I am talking crazy trash!).

Truth be told, you are probably right. Maybe I am crazy. I don’t know. More importantly though…, –I don’t mind. In reality –and history has shown this several times –there is a very thin line between crazy and very smart.

Anyway, let’s get back to the topic at hand –and the point I am trying to put across …which is:

Don’t Care Too Much about Money

There…, I said it again lol!

Now listen to me carefully. I am not saying don’t respect money –because you absolutely should.

Please respect money… it is a good tool to have –and an important tool which is responsible for whether you eat or don’t –whether your children eat or don’t –whether you wear nice clothes or not –whether you get good health care or not –and pretty much whether you live or die.

True or Funny?

Zig Ziglar put it this way, “Money isn’t everything. But it ranks right up there with oxygen.” Lol!

Even more humourously, Suze Orman said, “Money is kind of just like air – if you don’t have air, you can’t breathe. If you don’t have money, I don’t think you’ll want to breathe – you won’t want to live.”

Totally hilarious –but as you probably know… a lot of truth is said in jest.

There is another amusing quote from Oscar Wilde which goes, “When I was young I thought money was the most important thing in the world; now that I’m old I know that it is.”

Putting Things Into Perspective

Can’t fault Oscar Wilde for thinking that –but personally, I’m not quite sure if money should be given that level of significance. There are some things that I feel rank higher in importance. At the end of the day, we need to realize that money is just a tool. Like a garden rake or a spade. Like your phone.

You are a master of these tools. You control them and give them instructions of what they should do. Although of course the phone is now notorious for largely being able to control us. We are a generation of phone addicts (I know I am lol. My hunger for information happens to be quite next level. So much that if I were in the anime series “Dragon Ball,” …I would probably be at the Super Saiyan level Goku reached after I stopped watching the show lol! And I quit watching when he was at Super Saiyan level 3 I think! *Grin*)

What You Need to Remember

Okay, getting back to the topic. Since money is a tool, we need to constantly remind ourselves that we are its masters and it is the tool. Otherwise, it will inevitably control us and make our lives miserable –and you best believe it can do that to extreme degrees (like it has for millions of people who came before us).

We therefore need to appreciate and warn ourselves of the fact that money is a dangerous tool that often tends to be more powerful than its master. I spoke about this reality in my book Increase Your Intelligence: Be Amazing. Find the book here https://morrislungumastery.com/product/increase-your-intelligence-be-amazing/

A Journey of a Master and a Slave

However, although money is very powerful, it is a tool nevertheless. And as a tool, you possess the rare capability of exercising power over it. Even though that, of course, is not an easy task. Many have tried and failed. Heck, I’m still trying and failing. What is important to realise however is that the process of mastering money –like any other process of mastery –is a journey. You just need to get started. There will be ups –and there will be downs (hopefully more ups than downs in your case I hope). There will be days when you overcome your emotions and manage it well –and there will almost certainly be days when you won’t. But the important thing is to stick with the journey. You will get better.

Just so you start with the end goal in mind, in my book I talked about two surest ways of being able to master money. These were:

  1. Doing away with money completely; and
  2. Making and keeping a lot of money (which is the easier way…for obvious reasons lol!).

Just so you know, Mahatma Ghandi is the only person I have read about who seemed to have succeeded with the first method. Please let me know if you know of any others…(Did someone say Mother Teresa? Lol)

Anyway, that’s your knowledge vitamin from me for the day. Look out for the next tablet any day soon so that we put things into proper context.

To be continued…

See ya!

    1. Hello Bro! Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the piece. Yeah, starting the journey is the most important thing. The mastery will come in time. Look out for part 2

  1. This article is not far from the truth. Its sad how money has controlled people to the extent of even making them do things that they would not have done in their normal senses. its as if it has so much power over humans and yet it should be the other way round.

For sure we need to learn how to use this tool called money!
    Anxiously waiting for part II

    1. Hey Dudi! Indeed it is really sad what is going on in the world. But sadly money has too much power and we are not taught a lot of things about it or how to control it. But the truth is that managing money is a journey. We get better at handling it everyday. And don’t worry, I got you. The next article will be coming very soon.
